Agility is both mentally and physically stimulating for your dog and yourself. It is a fun way to help your dog get stronger and smarter. It’s like an obstacle course! If you want a new hobby or a sport to try with your dog, agility is great for all kinds of dogs.

It has a huge amount of benefits including:

  • Improving and strengthening bond between dog and handler
  • great exercise for all
  • builds confidence and self control in your dog
  • helps with obedience
  • strengthens your dog’s muscles and increases endurance
  • develops coordination
  • keeps him/her fit and prevents obesity

Agility is open to all dogs, pure breed or cross-breed. The only requirement is that your dog is fit, healthy and at least 12 - 18 months old (depending on size)

  • up to Border Collie size - minimum starting age 12 months
  • up to Labrador size - minimum starting age 15 months
  • up to German Shepherd size - minimum starting age 18 months

At Island Canines we are a non-competitive agility club, however, should you wish to compete, we will train you to the required standard and give you loads of support and encouragement.
